RABINDRANATH TAGORE INTERNATIONAL INSTITUTE OF CARDIAC SCIENCES KOLKATA, a unit of Asia Heart Foundation was set up in April 2000 with a vision of developing a cardiac care per excellence that aims at providing qualitative service to the masses at an affordable rate. To translate the dream of Dr. Devi Shetty, a visionary who is instrumental in setting up this hospital, a team of dedicated professionals work day in and out to ensure an equitable distribution of quality health care to the multitude of cardiac patients cutting across all age groups. It is presently a 550-bedded full-fledged multi-specialty hospital that is proudly occupying the largest cardiac center in Eastern India. The hospital has so far performed 10,000 Life saving cardiac operations and 25,000 interventional procedures.

MEDICA SUPERSPECIALITY HOSPITAL, KOLKATA is one of the largest super specialty hospitals of Eastern India with the mission of bringing the best in healthcare. CHRISTIAN MEDICAL COLLEGE, LUDHIANA, the first medical school for women in Asia provides a wide variety of services, ranging from primary peripheral care to super specialty care. Rotary Club of Calcutta Mahanagar has been the pioneer in initiating the flagship project, namely, “Healing Little Hearts”. Under the able leadership of Mr. Shekhar Mehta, Dr. Vidhawan and Ms. Rita Jhawar, this club has saved lives of more than 1500 children over a span of 5 years. It is imperative to mention the special efforts of Mr. Pradeep Rawat and his noble endeavor “Art for Little Hearts” that raises funds by selling paintings for sponsoring heart surgeries J&K and Arunachal Pradesh.

Rotary Club of Calcutta Chowrenghee

Rotary Club of Calcutta Chowrenghee holds pride in having produced powerful women who are exemplary for other Rotarians. They have shown sincere commitment and dedication in collecting funds for those children who are victims of circumstances. Past Presidents Meena Bansal (2010-2011), Urmi Basu (2011-2012) and Immediate Past President Nita Sethia (2012-2013) are few notables who have made a huge difference by their corpse of work. It has raised money through different forms of fundraisers, exhibitions and raffles.

Rotary Club of Calcutta Megacity has sponsored several heart surgeries of children suffering from congenial heart disease from impoverished background. PDG Anirudha RoyChoudhury, a member of the club has been instrumental in raising funds for such children. His involvement in this project is truly commendable.

Rotary Club of Maysville

PDG Nancy Barbee and RI District 7730 have been actively associated with this program for the last 5 years. Nancy truly cares about the children and pays visit Kolkata and Durgapur every year. She is accompanied by the entire team of Rotarians of RI District 7730. Nancy Barbee, Deputy of Rotary Officer Relations has been a member of Rotary Club of Maysville since 2000. She has served as Secretary, Vice-President and President for 2 consecutive terms, International Service Chair and Communications Officer. She is the leader of NID team of India since 2000. A very dedicated Rotarian, her compassion, devotion and dedication have helped countless little hearts to heal. Many families sleep in peace because of her extraordinary service.

PDG Doug Vincent is a Charter member of Rotary Club of Woodstock Oxford for the last 30 years. A winner of many coveted leadership awards, the most recent being the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal in January, 2013, he is a well-renowned philanthropist who is known for his selfless service and dedication. He cares deeply for the needy children and uses all fair means and resources to raise funds for their heart surgeries.

PDG Jody Light, an active member of Rotary Club of Buckhannon (USA) is closely associated with this project. Her empathy for little children suffering from CHD stretches across geographical barriers. She is not only instrumental in raising funds for these poor children but also plans a trip to India once in a year. Back home, she is actively involved in raising funds for homeless children and offering gifts to them during festivals.
